Sunday mornings we come together and we read scripture, and sometimes it speaks to our souls, and sometimes we wonder what the heck Jesus is talking about. We make the mistake of apply modern teaching standards to Jesus. But Jesus was a first century rabbi, and he taught in story, hyperbole, and metaphor.The purpose of Jesus and his teaching was to help us understand the Kingdom of God. Though much of the world seems to work against the Kingdom, God still reigns. But it’s up to us to decide whether or not to participate in God’s Kingdom; God will never force our hands.
